Presumably Putin is wanting trump to remove some sanctions and increase trade. Putin certainlyade Obama look daft. Probably taking advice from jay-z and the rest of his failed PR team. Putin was trying hard to expand Russia , which is probably a bad thing, but he's pushed forward and succeeded in Syria even with American interference.

To be honest Joe it looked more like NATO and the EU were the ones trying to expand, they created the coup in the Ukraine which forced Russia to react. The Ukraine is a country that has historically been used by invading armies to attack Russia, if it had joined the EU and then NATO American tanks would be within striking distance of Moscow and NATO radar and surface to air missile defenses would cover a large portion of Russia. When the cold war ended the Russians were given a promise that NATO wouldn't take one step further to the east....now you have Baltic and Eastern European countries which have joined. The threat from the Russian perspective must look enormous any reassurances we give them will not be taken seriously, they never forgot the lessons they learned from WW2.

Russia vetoed airstrikes on Syria, the US responded by causing the coup in the Ukraine, Russia poured weapons and special forces in to prevent the Ukraine being completely controlled by a pro Western government and caused a stalemate, the US then opened the taps of weapons and fighters in Syria and once again the Russians finally responded and actually won.

I am very sure the Ukraine will boil over again very soon....it's unfinished business

I'd like to see a deal made where the EU and NATO keeps it's nose out of the non NATO former Soviet Republics, and Russia agreeing to stop rattling sabres and trying to extend it's influence into Western Europe. I think Russia's aggressive posturing is caused by the EU and US trying to realign former Soviet Republics away from Russia.
