matt1979 766
Good stuff would have thought the fact the tear was near the calf muscle tissue means healing should be much better as muscle has an excellent blood supply to aid the healing process as oppose to tendon which has very little atb with the recovery. Seen plenty of people recover well from Achilles ruptures so given time and a bit of luck hopefully be a good outcome cheers Quote Link to post

morton 5,368
After waiting to see if Tilly's injury would get better on its own it became obvious that the Achilles' tendon was stretching further and the injury was getting worse so I decided to go ahead and get it operated on which I had done yesterday .... good and bad news ... the good news was that the tendon had separated from the calf which makes the healing process easier ... the bad news was that because the tear was so sever they could only just attach the fibres together so the knitting process will take longer and the build up to full fitness will have to be slower .... I've given her the best shot I can so it's up to her now ... she is pinned and strapped up and full of pain killers and I'm light of nearly £2000 but if I can get her back to full fitness by the middle of the summer I will be happy ....... I have nothing but admiration for folks such as you socks that have the mutts sole interest at heart and i sincerely hope the dog makes a full and complete recovery.Id still be looking for a replacement if it don,t pan out and i know thats not what you may wish to hear, all the very best. 1 Quote Link to post

blackmaggie 3,376
Has above socks its clear to see Tilly means a lot to you and the fact you have given her the best chance when some might have pts speaks volumes here's hoping for a full recovery or at least a decent outcome Quote Link to post
FUJI 16,919
I must admit I'd have paid £50 and had mine pts no matter how good a dog it was if it come to the decision you had to make for Tilly in whether an expensive op may or may not be the answer to Tilly's injury,I was brought up to "the 1st loss is your best loss" theory rightly or wrongly? Best wishes to Tilly & all the best for 2017 Ken and fingers crossed that Tilly can once again strut her stuff if even with a slightly lessened workload.. Here's hoping ? Quote Link to post
