Furrosious ferreter 499
Ive got a hw97, but cant find many more guns the same on internet. It has the barrel/silencer longer than the underlever. Not level! Does this just mean its not a carbine rifle its serial number is 1507... making it 2001 so its not 25mm internals. Any info on these please? FF Quote Link to post
toby63 1,236
i think its the first 97 they made that as the longer top barrel / silencer Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
Are you sure it hasn't got a extra silencer on Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
One of mine is roughly the same age and under leaver and barrel are same Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,806
Mind the stocks are interchangeable as in you can fit a new stock onto the old action and some of the older 97,s are better than the new 97,s back then they took care in there quality control atvbmac  Quote Link to post
Furrosious ferreter 499
It came with a synthetic stock thumbhole... shite. Ive seen earlier ones that barrel n under lever are the same length. Defo not an extra silencer... Ill try put pic up later. Any tips on doing that? FF Quote Link to post
Furrosious ferreter 499
Best i can do Quote Link to post
Furrosious ferreter 499
Full rifle in 77 stock Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
It that second hand? To me, its either a 77 with a shoddy conversation, or a old, as in Mk1, 97. And there the best Its not a carbine if its an original one. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Looks like an old 77 to me too, is that a slide on Mod? Quote Link to post
Furrosious ferreter 499
Its saying hw97k on the top infront of the loading port. Its in a hw77 stock that i got cheap stripped the finish off and done the stippling myself. Not a slide on, if it is its bloody tight. Whats the serial of the other one in post #10? FF What is meant by shoddy conversion? Edited December 31, 2016 by Furrosious ferreter Quote Link to post
PeskyWabbits 464
There are a couple of posts on other Forums about the early Hw97 differences http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread.php?590976-Difference-HW97-mk1-and-mk2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNVs_oddB0g Guessing as yours had been refurb'ed it won't have the original - gasp - square spring Quote Link to post

I think it is probably a 'bitsa', as in made up from bits of other guns. Not a bad thing, just depends on your take. And an avenue you have joined with the non-original stock. The odd thing though is your serial number. My Hw35 has it stamped on the barrel and I thought this was the same with Hw97s too. So why would your early model barrel have a later model serial number? Furrosious ferreter 499
Yes, serial no is stamped on the barrell and is a hull cartridge... Before i tuned it, it did have the sqaure spring but i thought this might of been a ox spring? Do you think the silencer end has been swapped for an old mk1 possibly? FF The one in the youtube video looks like it says hw97k on top at about 39 seconds in (tell ccos it has 5 letters/numbers) Nothing looks like its been heated or replaced at the barrel to action or at the silencer undrr lever... It does shoot really nicely just a thud and clover leaf at 30 meters i think the only thing to tune it further is to get a paul short job done on the piston/comp tube.
