i only read the first 6/7 replys and they wasn't very good.

I read the sweating comments, not saying I don't believe they could sweat but I would be sticking some wood shavings in the bottom which might help.

And I don't plan on sticking them in the footwell with the heat on them ?.

Afraid I am with the others on this, plastic ferret boxes are not great, I tried one years back, it had loads of ventilation in the sides, and the inside of the box still got clammy, the shavings were always damp, not good for the stinkers.

My wooden box on the other hand still has the same shavings from two seasons ago, I painted the outside when I built it, and that's all I've ever done.

I'd go wooden too.

An inch of shavings in the bottom and your sorted.

My 3 were in there for about 5 hours today and came out warm, but not clammy and happy as Larry.

Never heard good reports about plastic boxes apart from lower weight.

You could always do what I did for my hob / badger sized ferret and go to b&q and buy a plastic tool box, nip to the scrap yard on the way home and cut a length of seat belt out of an old v6 mazda mx3 (other cars are available) and drill some vent holes in the front of the box when you get home.

Total cost is about £10 / £15.

Does your badger size ferret fit down the holes ones he has arrived in his tool box ?

I'm only messing thanks for the advice everyone I'll take it all on board.

Drill a few extra holes for ventilation and your sorted... i drilled a few on the lid to allow the box to breathe a bit better.

Mine have been in the box for about 12 hours today and they're nice and dry when i get them out..

He won't fit through a 2" mesh purse net so frequently gets stuck or just fubars every net he sticks his fat head through so he didn't work last year and hasn't been out this year as yet!

Now that ive got a couple of stop nets and the lurcher is working well he will be used in places I don't need to purse net a couple of times a year but if I'm honest the big jaffa is really only in the shed to knock the Jill's out of season and he can be a pain in the arse.

Good solid worker though so it'll be good to get him out again (he's just too big to fit comfortably in any of my other carry boxes and trying to fold him in just doesn't seem fair)
