Simoman 110
Hope someone can answer a question about Brian Nuttall's Patterdales. I have seen references to Old Nuttall lines. Can somebody tell me the difference between old and new? My bitch is Miner/Raven, she is eight years old, is this old or new breeding? Quote Link to post
Guest johnD
im certainly not running down down your dogs but if you look at photos in old terrier yearbooks of nuttall dogs i think there is a big difference in apperance size weight etc i think brians line has altered in a big way and we much prefer nuttall dogs of old they are out and out grafters Quote Link to post
Guest friedrice
and yet nuttal himselfe says his line aint changed in forty years . must be all the border blood he put into them? Quote Link to post
damashaman 1
Nuttalls stuff is so damn tight it often benefits some new blood. They are usually small things as well. Quote Link to post

Guest johnD
i know it was a lot more than border that was bred into them with the utmost respect to brian nuttall he bred some top class digging dogs but he aint gonna be the one to admit that his line has altered in a big way as to border blood a dog that was in ireland a while back as good an earth dog as was ever seen he was half levioakes half old nuttall personally myself i never dug to this particular animal but have dug to ancestors of him and without doubt they are the genuine article Quote Link to post

Garn 0
We were looking at some nutall pedigrees the other day comparing the old dogs to the new dogs. On paper the new dogs are bred down from the same lines as the older dogs i.e. no new blood added, just smaller dogs bred from is what we concluded. Quote Link to post

IS HE? Valid point, and hear he breeds a good few pups that cost a good few quid. Though if his dogs/ line are so bad, how come they're still going strong after all these years? Quote Link to post
