Tiercel 6,986
Took the granddaughter for a walk this morning looking for a particular type of stick I want to cut this Winter, no joy on the stick front but I did see these, I am not sure what they are? They are not Snow drops they have a flower head like Wild Garlic but the leaves are all wrong. The flower heads are about 12" to 14" in height, any ideas anyone? Photos taken with phone so not the best quality. TC

Chicken_man 1,651
It could be False Garlic ( Allium neapolitanum) Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
Tiercel 6,986
It could be False Garlic ( Allium neapolitanum) Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk I just had a look at those they certainly look like them, but they are Mediterranean flowers that flower from May through June. Not what you would expect to see in flower in December. TC

Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk Nor me thats why I asked. I think it is a member of the Alium family going by the leaves and the flower spike but I just can't place it. I took it that it is an early spring flowering and the mild weather and the sheltered position has allowed it to flower early? TC
Chicken_man 1,651
My Mrs says same as you and going by the other foliage in the pic, it must be pretty mild where you are. Rub the leaves flowers and see if they smell, should be able to see if on the right track with Allium or not Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk

Tiercel 6,986
This is doing my head in, I will be back there tomorrow with a decent camera. Although that does not guarantee that the pictures will be any better. TC
Squeamish5 309
Do they have triangly stalks? They look like what we used to call 'onion flowers' ... loads grew round our school field when I was little. (They smelled and tasted oniony obvs). Rather early though.
