Popular Post FUJI 17,102
Xmas day is no different to any other now the kids are all grown up in this house so plans were made as they are every year as to our venture out on crimbo morning. This year I had to leave Boots in his kennel as he is recovering from an injury he received almost 3 weeks ago now & Fenn is almost 7 weeks in pup so she too had to sit this one out after being in action for the 4 previous Xmas days.Old Don is exactly that old so it left our sapling Mario to fly the flag for the team.Myself & my second youngest lad set off at 5.30am for the hundred plus mile drive where hopefully we would get to stretch Mario's legs! Oh & obviously Ruby the Pom was in situ too lol..On arrival at our destination the rain duly made an appearance well it's par for the course isn't it? The wind was nothing short of wild! Being honest I didn't really expect to see anything as on previous visits with similar conditions I'd never ever seen anything! As we proceeded to ever heightening running ground I stumbled upon a set snare & carried on past it without interfering with it when not 20 seconds later I heard a choking noise from behind me only to see Ruby caught by the neck in another snare lol,we just freed her and reset the snare for the Gamekeeper lol.We had covered 6 miles on our return to the motor so nothing really but the weather didn't make things easy.I have been really struggling with my knees of late & today confirmed what I already knew, they are f****d!! I even hit the deck twice because of the darn things, will have to be the dr's again after Xmas to see if anything can be done? We did see 7 or 8,Mario got a gallop on 4 but 2 went to ground pretty sharp enough so the dog had no chance, the other 2 he caught nicely one of which was a real good spin.I've not rushed the dog although he was 16 months last week,he's going ok & showing plenty of promise. We were back in the house by 12.15pm & I even got a dinner brought from my ex wife lol so good day all round I'd say.I have a few pics but I'm enroute to hospital to visit my old fella just now but will add a few when I'm back home..Merry Christmas folks, keep on keeping on ? 25 Quote Link to post

Walking stick is a necessity for me now on terrain like that. My knees are ok going up but painful on the way down . A staff saves the kees a lot of work and pain. 1 Quote Link to post

Sometimes a sturdy stick can come in handy, not just as support but pushing undergrowth aside, waving at boisterous livestock, as a priest etc ,also helps blend in as a walker with a dog 1 Quote Link to post
