Recommended Posts

My Patt Bitch used to make out she was all friendly with mates ferrets then as soon as she got near tried to rip their heads off we used to tie her to a spike and the noise she used to make was unbearable and non productive when ferreting my experience with terriers and ferreting was a definite no no.

I wouldn't take a dog then, go and a have a good few days away BUT I honestly wouldn't take a dog ferreting that wasn't broke to them. Never mind slip leads shit will hit the fan at some point.

I remember one day years ago, was early morning picking a lad up for a mornings ferreting he said his little bitch was fine with ferrets ect ect. So while having a brew I said let's see what see act l

I expected all my terriers to behave amidst and around ferrets,i often had both working freely around each other.Ive owned the odd terrier that was not to be trusted,no matter its training

I remember one day years ago, was early morning picking a lad up for a mornings ferreting he said his little bitch was fine with ferrets ect ect. So while having a brew I said let's see what see act like? So got a little Jill kit out that years young let her have a smell through the run mesh she seemed fine hardly bothered. Open the pen door let her have a smell, and honest to god she nipped and I mean nipped this little Jill's head and stood there the bitch barely moved her head and a flash split second. The Jill stone dead in my own hands completely smashed its skull few flickers and gone.

From that day, iv never took a dog that wasn't a 100% with ferrets. I don't keep them now like I said but these little humble ferrets get over looked at times and that little line of ferrets I used went back for over 25years of breeding (not mine) but an old boy down in Yorkshire. Treat your ferrets like you do your dogs, I wouldn't take my little whippet out knowing there was a mastiff on a slip that would knowing kill it if came into contact with it. I know its sounding a little far fetched but its just not worth the hassle

Ideally you could do with access to a ferret for a few days walshie.

My wife broke the bull x,and terrier to ferrets when they were 14 months old.

Only took 2 days and about 2hrs a day.

They are bombproof around them now.

I've got a 14 week old terrier who in the ferret run eating mince with them he's not bothered by them at all.

The wife broke 2 bull x and a terrier to chicks in a few hrs.

They would just lye there watching the chicks wobble about the kitchen floor.

Can't be having no nonsense off the dogs.

They know who the boss is the wife don't feck about with them.

And I've said this to a few lads some believed me some didn't.

The wife taught the pressa canario to wink lol.

She would wink her left eye he would copy.

Wink her right eye he would copy.lol

Blew my head when I came home from work watch this she said.

And showed me.

Thanks for the kind offers of lending me a stinker for a bit, but I really live in the back of beyond so I'm going to have to pass. I'll just have to be sensible, which I was going to anyway and keep the dog on a lead until it's safe not to.

He's broken to cattle and sheep, which is the most important thing round here.

I needed a mate this week with chicken and ferret proof terrier to help on a ratting job, could i find one, could i fck, the only lad that had a dog broke to ferrets and chickens would not come cos he was sh1t feared of rats.

Family has just landed up, so i will finish the tale later.

Merry Christmas to you all.
