Salmon Runs And The Army

Recommended Posts

Was talking to a farmer friend last night just before Lamping her ground she was saying that the army were watching the river that runs through here land . She was saying that they watch for poachers they stay until daybreak i was wondering who pays for this service as its not the usual sort of thing you would expect the forces to do.

Bet the lads all sit in the pub laughing about the day they kidded the farmer they were the army watching for poachers before loading his salmon in the motor ...?

When I was in Brecon doing one of my promotional courses the local church hall had a problem with mice and we were seconded to put in an ambush to neutralise the threat ..........

No idea about the salmon Matt but I am part of a shooting syndicate near Brecon and the SAS did watch over the Red Kites during nesting! This was a good few years ago but I was there to vouch for it!

Once knew a farmer up by Catterick who was once approached by the forces and asked if he could deploy men for night time manoeuvres training on his land, if they spotted poachers they would observe and follow them until the police arrived, kinda makes sense for both parties, but how true or widespread this is, who knows? Not bad training if thats happening.

Explains a lot really, I thought I was being followed by a tank, but just put that down to the dodgy mushrooms I tried.

It doesn't work like that

I knew a snco who had his arse handed to him for snapping a wire fence on sheep land

Bit annoyed now at the days of my life I have lost travelling to thetford otterburn salisbury plain and Devon when we can now apparently just go and ask a farmer next door to come and cut around on his land 100 strong willy billy
