Goldfish Tank Advice/help

No heating,no live plants they bit more active today get Christmas over an will keep eye out for bigger tank put them in living room.

probably all down to temp, if you do move them into a bigger tank in your living room it might be a bit steadier otherwise stick a heater in it but turn it down to low 60`s, coldwater fish will live ok in more tropical temp tanks but their metabolism gets boosted

That's one thing you don't need with goldfish mate, they produce enough waste as it is. Room temperature is more than adequate for them to be healthy, water changing is more important in a tank and more so if the tank is on the small side. With that many goldies in a 2 ft tank I'd be doing at least twice weekly 40% changes with declorinated water. Some fishkeeping sites would even give you shit for that!

heater would be there to cut down the temp variation, as for that being too many fish for a 2ft tank that all depends on the size of them, something that's not been mentioned yet, as for changing that much water so often that's something we`ll have to disagree on, decent filtration, syphon solids out as needed and only change water to control PH should be enough to maintain things for 4 three inch goldfish (that's based on a 2ftx1ft surface area, if the tank is wider than a foot it could have larger fish, airstones diffusing bubbles through the water also increase the amount of fish that can be kept in the tank)

The issue with goldies is the amount of ammonia they produce per fish. I researched heavily, they need a surprising amount of water per fish to keep them in optimal condition. They are hardy so they can survive in a wide range of conditions, but they're more suitable for ponds than tanks really.

One is a lion head I discovered today, the other 3 came out of neighbours pond as it was filled in,don't know what they are adult fish has a split flowing tail,it's good size next one is smaller version just turned orangy/gold,third one is gold /bronze colour it was only little when we got it,it's doubled in size now and is obviously going to be same as the large one ,must be its offspring .
