The old fella (me da) spent year's doing it...and money. Got bin bags and bin bags full of paperwork of his research which he left us sons. It's like a huge jigsaw puzzle to be honest. Certainly kept him busy..was always up and down the country visiting different churches/registrary ?? offices and taking photos of headstones if ever he got a lead. Remember him saying he had to pay a specialist, once you get so far back just to read/understand the letters and words back then. Certainly kept him busy..really wish I'd shared his interest while he was still with us.

I know a little about mine.

My Great Great Grandfather came over in 1860 something from Ireland. (That's apparently an island, ever hear of it? lol) He was a laborer who liked to fight. His son ( my great grandfather) was a cop and married the Aunt of Roald Amundsen. One relative was a billiards champion, and was in the Guinness book of world records. That's about it for fame as far as I know. One Uncle went back over there and visited the parishes looking at baptismal, marriage, and death records. But our last name is pretty common so I couldn't say how accurate all of that is. I'd like to know more but never have had the time to research anything.

Merry Christmas everyone!
