Any Tips On Learning To Make Purse Nets?

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to get some advice on anyone skilled in making purse nets. I have a few quick questions.......

1). What are the essential tools required and how much nylon/hemp is needed to make 1 net?

2). Where do you buy your rings, nylon and white chord?

3). Where do you buy your tool for tying a net and what is it called?

4). How long does it normally take to tie a net and do you normally do tie them in the house i.e. tie it to a door handle for handiness?

Any other do's and don'ts when tying and how do you get that oval effect in the net.

One other thing, how do you measure the length of the purse net, is there an easy way i.e. hip to toe?

I'd say once a person gets handy at making one they will never buy another net again.

Plenty films on you tube to show you how to make nets but i always reckon your better sitting beside somebody showing you how to make them and any thing you think of can be answered right there and them .

You can buy your stuff on ebay the twines cheaper , all your really needing is a needle a couple of rings or keyrings and you can make a mesh board from most stuff dont buy expensive twine till your happy with your knots them buy the twine you want to use on your nets and you can keep cutting the nets you start making off the rings and reuse them till your happy then but good quality twine and go for some nice heavy rings
