I can't remember but the natives used to put bells on their collars when they were working.

All I know about the breed is reading a quote from Plummer, which said it was impossible to train Chow chow's or Basenji's..... But then I grew up and knew 'ol DBP was not a man to be trusted....

I carnt remember tbh it was that long ago you are probably right can remember the same it was used to flush quail if I remember right.

I saw a doco where a bloke in Australia had two basenjis and a cattle cross bull terrier, he was using them to clear feral cats and foxes from a fenced in wildlife area.Thought they might be decent hunters.

There one of the original pigdog crosses over here.good on scrub bulls too.Pretty exciting,but ill stick with my little running dogs on the bunnies.

I've known a couple the are very busy hunters but not very controllable they are not mute and do yodel. they are cat like in some of their habits and are good climbers. On the upside they have a good nose and trail very well.
