Best Spring Powered Air Rifle

Recommended Posts

Hello lads,

Just wanted to hear everyone's opionions regarding what they feel is the best springer they have either owned or fired untuned?

Sorry for you members that have been on this site for a long time and have answered this question too many times to count.

I'm new to air gunning so have not had the privilege of shooting many but the joys of a shooting range is most people are willing to let you shoulder theirs and fire a few down range :)

Cheers

I'm surprised you've not been inundated with models and abbreviations yet Richard. There's a wealth of knowledge on here mate, great set of fellas that'll keep you right. I don't own a springer and never have, I've shot a multitude of firearms and enjoy shooting so went straight onto PCP's, I would say everyone here would say if you're new to shooting getting a springer first is the right thing to do as it will hone your shooting technique. Good luck and enjoy mate??

LGV comp ultra in .22

Basically, there is only the pro sport or a TX that's in the same league. The key point being "untuned". And in all honesty, the walther models pull the pants down on anything else. If anyone says any difference. They don't know what what there on about.

The thing is, the trigger is a let down compared to the air arms unit.

For me I have one springer and one pcp, hw77 and my Rotex rm8 but am seriously considering selling my rm8 to fund another springer, I can't stop looking at the air arms pro sport in walnut stock. Hence my question because is the pro sport worth the £160 extra compared to the tx200 what is up there as one of the best

@rez cheers mate I'm glad someone threw a curve ball, I never see the walther brand up there when I have read similar posts, correct me if I'm wrong but don't walther make the barrel for some air arms or BSA? I agree with you regarding the trigger...why build a beautiful rifle and finish it with a plastic toy trigger???? Price wise the walther is up there with the tx prices.

Hi Richard,

Welcome to the gang.

There are some very knowledgeable lads on this forum and we hear about the same guns over and over.

The usuals are HW, A Arms and lately the LGV - as said Richard you need to shoulder them all and shoot as many of them as possible.

" Untuned" but as good as tuned out of the box,- Air Arms TX 200 mk3, also Pro Sport and the LGV Comp Ultra as said . - the Air Arms trigger is a wonderful unit, many prefer it to the famous record trigger of the HW`s.

Good luck with your choices

You forgot the hw97s Rez and as for the blade unit one of the best if not the best out there

yes the rifle needs tuning from new but nearly all springers do at some point in there lives any way

even the lgv .

You your self have a cracking 97 would you part with it

and i bet you would put it against any springer pellet for pellet

i think you would

iv seen your shooting with your 97 and its out standing as iv say,d before mate

The only problem is the wait but then again the tx and pro sport are not light waits ether Rez

Thanks for the replies so far, i thought the top 3 would be pro sport,tx and the hw97...as per most forums when it comes to top end spring rifles. Like bigmac said the anti bear trap is the only thing that puts me of the tx, I was curious if someone would throw a break barrel into the mix...my heart is kinda set on a pro sport but that extra £160/£170 compared to tx,hw and even walther is what is kinda putting me off.

I've decided that after xmas the rotex will be up for sale (if anyone is interested pm me) so it will be used to Buy another springer. I can write off the hw97 only because I have a hw77 and when I shot the 97 secretly I preferred mine and I'm currently in the process of polishing/tuning my 77 to make it better.

@bilbobagins - you have hit the nail on the head and I can not give you any logical reason why I would sell my pcp to buy another top end springer. my misses asked the same question but she is easily blagged as she is not into shooting.lol

im just drawn to sprinters at the moment and all I want to shoot is a spring powered rifles, I even got to shoot my dream pcp (hw100) the other week and even though the gun is perfect I find my self looking for spring powered rifles on the net...
