The Weather Came In Fast Last Night

We decided to have another bash at the rat farm last night.......

 

We got there at 6pm and stayed until 9:30pm. It was a little foggy when we arrived but within an hour, a really thick mist had descended - I could feel the wind whipping into my face and hands. The range on the NS Viper was cut down to 25yrds.

Because we were there a lot earlier than usual, we bumped into the owner - he was well happy and told us that he's seeing a lot less rats now

 

Indeed, most of our night was spent hanging around, watching the usual spots with the rifles up on sticks.

 

I took a few pictures of the usual spots on the NV screen....

Because the permission is long and thin, most of the shots are through fences and under gates etc

....... of course, being careful not to hit those feckin' aggressive Geese

The end result of our efforts was a dead rat and wet rifle each.

 

The one that I got was back in a pen, He was a big 'un - I took a picture of him next to my size 12 boot. He was heavy on the end of a litter picker

 

I was starting to doubt .177 for rats because of the amount of wrigglers I've been getting but, the shot on this big boy put him straigh down

 

It may have only been 1 but, I was happy with the quality

 

The drive home was interesting - dark country lanes and pea soup fog.

 

I was home by 10pm, drying and oiling my kit while enjoying a nice Souther Comfort.
