doglad1 32
Most deerhound/ deerhound crosses are 2/3 year old before maturing Quote Link to post
jiggy 3,209
I have a dog 14 months that still squats when pissing he hasn't started cocking his leg yet, they are slower to mature than terriers. Why would you want the bitch in season yet? she's too young/inexperienced to breed so it's just an unwanted nuisance at an important stage of her training/career in mid season. Quote Link to post
Sirblessed 2,511
All my old big hounds were slow to mature compared to the smaller x's Quote Link to post

ginger beard 4,652
Most deerhound/ deerhound crosses are 2/3 year old before maturing 2-3 to come into season maybe which i always thought was a good thing but not to settle down into work. Quote Link to post
bob84 189
I have a bitch here coming up to 5 I was told to pts at 15mths as she had no interest in doing anything but I kept going with her the penny finally dropped and off we went now she's no world beater but she'll lamp and ferret run and catch a Fox but won't finish it I can live with that waiting a little longer won't do any harm but rushing her could . jiggy 3,209
Jiggy I've no intention of breeding just reckon it may mature her abit.i doubt a heat cycle would make much difference they could have 2 or 3 cycles and still be immature take when you were physically able to have sex for example how many years after that would you say it took before you were a responsible adult lol. 1 Quote Link to post
Joshua Wheeler 60
My dog whippet 2. Leggy65 36
Got a bitch I bred, she coming 19 months and still puppyish, every dog is different! Does my nut in some days when the older bitch is hunting or trying to hunt the pup running a long side wanting to play! Until yesterday evening when they put a fox up and hunted it in to forestry patch. When they eventually lost it and came back the pup seamed different and all fired up, hopefully she,s turned a corner! 1 Quote Link to post
