Passive drinking is less miserable than passive smoking.

As kids we would sit in the back of the Singer Vogue then Ford Cortina Mk4 with sore streaming eyes while Ma and Pa chain smoked through Benson & Hedges.

I think alcohol causes the most antisocial behaviour,but i remember when smoking was allowed on aircraft,f***ing hell imagine that now,and when i was a kid it was like living inside a smoke filled lung with both of my parents kicking out ciggie smoke like puff the magic f***ing dragon,what a noxious habit,you can smell a smoker.

I read somewhere that when smoking in planes was allowed that the air in the plane was better than it is now due to the air being refreshed more often than it is now and that the plane also used more fuel when being refreshed more often ,don't know what truth there is in it though

If you smoke consistently then I'm sure it's something like 70% chance you will die of a smoking related illness.... asthma, lung cancer and other lung disease must be some of the worst ways to go. Pays your money you take your chance I suppose.

 

My step sons grandad started smoking on his 80th birthday, regularly smokes 30 a day now. Said he always wanted to smoke but was to afraid of dying before lol

Good health is a bit of a lottery and smoking seems to be a gamble you might get lucky or you might not. Personally I would prefer to stack the odds in my favour and not smoke. I might get flattened tomorrow by a lorry but I can't do much about that. I don't drink either because its turns me into an arse so not touched a drop for best part of a decade. I do enjoy a cuppa though lol

Weird that but i also enjoy the smell of pipe smoke,it reminds me of my grand dad,a lot ofmold guys back then smoked a pipe and that beautiful smelling tobbacco before it was stuffed into the bowl,and i like the smell of a decent cigar before its lit,the swiss used to sell "smell bags" in herbal shops years ago,filled with cannabis to smell,because the odour of different strains is was so attractive (and also because it was a way to get around selling it for smoking).

mother aged 54 died of stomach cancer, sister aged 30, also passed away stomach cancer, ive smoked bout 60 years im now clocking 73 and still here, i enjoy a ciggie

My father smoked one for years.

About 12 or 13 years ago I worked on a small site, there was only 8 of us and 3 smoked pipes. What's the chances and one lad was in his 40s.

One of my earliest memories was being in the West of Ireland and seeing a woman smoking a pipe.

They smell lovely and if there was no harm I'd probably try it, LOL.

 

I'm still wondering about snuff..............has anyone tried it ?

Yeah its not somthing I do often but a good mate of mine always has a tin on him so i always have a snout if we are out..ok as a occasional thing I wouldent want it all the time.

Snuff isn't anywhere near as bad for you as smoking tobacco, the only real risk is nasal cancer which is quite rare I think. It still contains nicotine though so is addictive but like anything if you do it in moderation I can't see you developing a problem.
