gamerooster 1,179
Enjoyed this topic, its a shame the saluki is let down in this country by the lack of suitable land for them and the quarry species Quote Link to post
arcticgun 4,548
Plenty suitable quarry here for them Quote Link to post

gamerooster 1,179
Plenty suitable quarry here for them But theres nothing they excel on more than other breeds and crosses, unlike back in there homelands on gazelle is what i meant, though i do believe they often arent given a fair crack of the whip and are all to quickly labelled as plodders 1 Quote Link to post
THE STIFFMEISTER 15,749
This isn't meant to be a funny question But would you reckon that the best Salukis in the world are bred in the uk? As in the standard has been raised much higher by the forty odd years of serious organised coursing in the fens, the breeding and the feeding evolution etc? Be interesting to hear those guys who run purea opinions ? 2 Quote Link to post

I would say that if you want a saluki too run quarry in this country then you would fair much better with one bred from parents that have done the job here or at least one parent that has, that's is just my opinion though, seen a lot of imports and not many made much impact, think they loose a bit when they getting carted all round the world, pup time is important for socialisation, its a massive thing taking a pup from one side of the world to the other, and again does any breeder ever truly sell his best stock from any litter, I know I wouldn't myself, I want first and second pick, I want the next best ones to go too close friends or family, want all the best pups close, the rest wont be the same cos not many litters are all even from what I ive seen, and if you found a breeder that would allow you a foreigner he met once or twice pick of a whole litter ? now that would set alarm bells ringing for me, couple n the fact the middle east has a more or less blanket ban on hunting due to over hunting, with very harsh penalties, then thres the fact most of it is also a war zone, I honestly doubt they actually will get that much done, however as wek know the determined always have and will get the dogs out, so you best hope if you do buy abroad you do your research and then pray you get lucky 4 Quote Link to post

mushroom 12,879
Those videos are brilliant! I'm not keen on the leaving three dogs to rag edible quarry though. Should have got in there and dispatched with a knife immediately IMO 1 Quote Link to post
