RSVNelly 518
I just thought I'd put a short post up, as it was my first hunting trip last night, thanks to Jimmy & Seans extremely generous invitation. The weather was great for this time of year, dry and really warm. Vis was really good, however this was because of the moon state which made us stand out like Gary Glitter in Mothercare! I've got a feeling this happens to everyone but on the way to the permission the van lights were picking up eye shine in all the fields until it came to the permission! I learnt lots about setting the scope up for night shooting, ensuring the lamp illuminates the scope etc. I also found out how much I miss a 3 point sling, I got myself tied up a few times! All the quarry was extremely scitish, I presume this is because they are now wary of people because of shooting. Myself and Sean saw a good 8/9 rabbits bolt from a field as we put the lamp on it. The ground was extremely wet and heavy going which made keeping quiet fairly awkward. By the end of the night we had 1 rabbit between us, thanks to Sean. Yet again another great weekend thanks to Sean & Jimmy ????, It was great to see Ethan again, the lads mad for it and he's going to end up been a hunting machine in a couple of years time. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had access to years of experience from a couple of fellas that I'm now proud and thank full to call mates. Cheers Jimmy, Sean and Ethan, until next time, be lucky ???? 8 Quote Link to post

Phil i think its one of the slings the military use the ones that allows you to strap the rifle to your chest and keeps your hands free Think im right any way Nelly will be along soon to put me right if im wrong lol atvbjimmy  1 Quote Link to post

Now something different...................I have never seen how a three point sling works, please explain. Phil Phil the point relates to the sling connecting to the butt and muzzle end of the rifle, the third point is normally a quick release buckle that allows the sling to be either un clipped so it can be brought up to aim as well as allowing you to let go of the weapon and have it slung by your side. When fastened it's supported across the chest or around you back. The Army sling also allows you to wear the rifle in a rucksack style, allowing the sling to be worn on both shoulders?? I hope that made sense?? Quote Link to post
