slipper 116
Me and my mate went out foxing the other night and noticed a load of greylag and one of the wet fields that always holds water in the winter, Problem is this pool is about 100 yards from any cover apart from a dead tree First question do you think they will come back? Must of been between 250 350 maybe more, And what would be the best approach? I can't leave a hide there as few others might pinch it Quote Link to post
air gun ant 1,666
Put a decoy on your head and sit in the water......... It worked for Elmer Fudd! He went on to design his own brand of decoys lol Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
Or just make one for free out of local vegetation, if they have not been disturbed they will be back, if you have some goose decoys use em, sounds like you are in for some fun mate. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
What gun were you foxing with? What's wrong with using a rifle on the geese? Quote Link to post
Hydropotesinermis 724
What gun were you foxing with? What's wrong with using a rifle on the geese? It's a bugger to work out the lead! 3 Quote Link to post
slipper 116
223 Decker, I did think about that but I would like to eat them and not sure how much of a mess it would make unless I went for a head shot Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
223 Decker, I did think about that but I would like to eat them and not sure how much of a mess it would make unless I went for a head shot It's up to you of course, but I have several sites where I have to deal with geese, primarily Canada geese, and head shots off the bipod out to 100 or even slightly further are not much of an issue. I tend to use the HMR for this! If it is just Geese control then I generally use my WMR, you can place the shot almost anywhere you like and they fall down, the HMR needs to be delivered to more vulnerable areas of their bodies. A .223 with any ammo you like delivered to the head will work just fine if you want to eat them. Quote Link to post
