Shamo 319
I have only recently got my first HH and it is a 1lb 7oz youngster. I just got my first batch of Chicks from Honeybrooks yesterday evening. I paid £26.38 or something for the minimum order of two Boxes. I thought I could use the bottom drawer in our household freezer.....WRONG. I had to go out and buy a freezer out of free-ads, and that is full now! Even if I fatten him up I will have enough until doomsday. How many Boxes is 5000? How many Birds do you have 'Jasper'? Come to that, how many Chicks is 2 Boxes? I am real new to this game and this is my first Bird I have ever trained. I got him flying free in the Kitchen from a Perch with 3 Dogs milling about and my missus and radio on, within a few seconds of calling and whistling. It is about 10-12 feet at the moment to the Glove, but increasing every day steadily. I can get him to 22 feet then it has to be outside, to get any more distance. I will then put him on the creance. I have had him a Week, but he was eating from Glove before I got him, he wasn't flying though just hopping on. He was fully Parent reared and born in June. When is best to introduce a Rabbit Lure and get him trying to catch it? Edited December 13, 2007 by Shamo Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
no point me ordering from there , the delivery is silly for the couple of boxes i would need a month, i used to share the deliver with a couple of mates but they dont keep ferrets now so i am buggered Quote Link to post

Hello Shamo They come on box's of 200! so if you paid £26.38 for 2 box's = 400 then they have over charged you by a huge amount! thats the price you should be paying for 5 box's which = 1000. I have 25 box's delivered to the door which works out with discount around £25.10 per thousand! they're now going up by £1.00 which will then cost me another £25 for the same amount each time. The problem is do I add the money onto the prices of birds when I sell them? the answer here is NO! cause its not fair on the Punters to pay over the odds for a bird, I need another supplier for a fair price! I must admit though the Honeybook Chicks are a good size compared to some of the other suppliers I have been too in the past.... I have around 23 birds shamo includeing birds which are lent out in projects! at the moment I'm getting through 5000 chicks and 200 quail in around 5 to 6 weeks, in the breeding season when I have youngster I'll be getting through the same amount in half the time ... jasper65 6
Just got these through today with the 2008 price lists from Honeybrook and KKK.... Jasper Quote Link to post
Shamo 319
I paid £12 for P&P or there abouts and £2.10 vat, it was £6.40 a box. total cost was £26.90 for 400 DOC's. I will have enough chicks to last me 7 months or so! I would really like a female HH, when my male is going right. Just getting one when you want it is the obstacle. If anyone knows of any nice large females for sale let me know. Son wants one now, try flying a cast.....should be productive. Cheers for reply alan. Quote Link to post
