Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Altbergs are nice but are too lightweight if you plan on doing any digging.
C556 351
I got a pair of the Haix High Liability boots a few weeks ago. Compared to the Altbergs they have a slightly narrower fit and more ankle support. I found the Altbergs were good for digging.
bullmastiff 615
You can get Altbergs in a narrow or wide fitting.

arcticgun 4,548
Altberg defenders not a bad boot for the money imho however Lowa combat are a lot more boot for not much more money straight out the box Lowa win hands down and they have worn better too imho so for me it's Lowa Seen harkila n Meindel too not keen on the harkila at all although they do look well made meindel look quality as well but I'd be loathed too pull out more than the Lowa cost as they been great boots for me Edited December 15, 2016 by arcticgun
C556 351
I suppose that would depend on whether you got a new pair of Defenders or a £30 pair of Grade 1's off eBay.
Francie 6,368
Got a pair of grade one altbergs of ebay, 40quid posted an all, good boot, not the warmest tho, but a decent pair of socks will sort that.
j1985 1,984
I couldn't make up my mind for ages, went with the Meindl Dovre Extremes and after a tiny bit of breaking in they are excellent. Super warm, comfy and supportive!!
Gratz 8
+1 for Meindl. Damaged an ankle in a car crash years ago and these are really supportive
