I have,nt bothered reading past your post so if someone else has answered, sorry, but i find it quite strange that on a working dog site were people appreciate what a dog can do rather than what it lo

Nothing against shows or nice looking dogs ,but surely breeding away from the form that made the breed fit to perform it's original job is disingenuous at the least and once unhealthy exaggerations ar

If folk want to breed for looks and show their dogs what's the problem? A lot of these breeds don't even have a "job" to breed for anymore and the ones that are still used for work split into show and working lines and everyone is happy.

I don't see why it should banned, at the end of the day it's up to them what they do with their dogs surely.

I just think we have to be careful talking about banning things we don't personally agree with because they're "cruel"

Just look at who has been pushing this message of breeding show dogs being "cruel"....

I have,nt bothered reading past your post so if someone else has answered, sorry, but i find it quite strange that on a working dog site were people appreciate what a dog can do rather than what it looks like, an active member would ask the question above, WHATS THE PROBLEM, when owners are willing to drown a pup because it has a patch in the wrong place or because it's an inch shorter or taller than mum or dad, when people are happy to pour super glue onto someone else's dog in case it beats them in the show ring or even poison there food (as happened at crufts recently) and kill them, to me these are far more heinous than a dog chasing a natural prey animal like a fox or hare, which unless you had,nt noticed are now banned, so from my point of veiw, that's the frecking problem, these same people who are willing to do these things are quite happy to stand hand in hand with the antis and ban something that's gone on since the the Pharos ruled earth, so if we are banning things because they upset one group in society then yes let's have a level playing field and ban these cruel c**ts Edited by Greyman

So because something you like doing has been banned because certain folk deemed it cruel you're happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with those same antis to get dog shows banned?

How about we all just do what we want with our dogs and stay out of eachother's business?

Totally agree good post that.....we see more cruelty to dogs in a show ring than we ever see in hunting/sport if you want to ban one then ban them all.....or else do as BGD is hinting at and just allow dogs to be " property " across the board.

I totally agree with your live and let live attitude mate......banning things is not the way forward.

However I think if the dogs in questions health is at stake then somethings should be looked into. You can still have show comps but the dogs must pushed towards being healthy than being 'good too look at'.
