The thing that I don't fully understand is that .77 is a smaller lighter pellet but you get less from a full cylinder? I thought it would surely be the other way round?

Now going to look at the wolf :whistling::whistling:

To put it in terms that my little brain understands.......

It's because the .177 is a smaller, lighter pellet, it needs a bigger hit of air behind it to achieve a faster speed so that can make the same power.

Weight x velocity = ftlb energy.

Also, as others have said, the guy at the rfd is talking coblers .177 is fine for hunting

I have used .22 - my favourite rifle and and, my single honest keeper is my .22 TX.

For hunting, personally, I much prefer .177 - the lighter, faster pellet and flatter trajectory works for me.

I also like a heavier pellet - JSB Heavy 10.34gn. I've always found that it performs well and hits hard. I've had success with it on everything from birds to rats to rabbits and squirrels.

IV GOT PLENTY OF RIFLES FOR OWEN TO USE AT THE RANGE SO THATS NOT A PROBLEM

I have only the one.. HW100KT .177/ Airmax 30sf scope and it loves AA express pellets. Shot some lovely 55 yard 7 shot groups Sunday morning outside (5p) Must admit I'm fighting the urge to get another set up but I like me 2-3 jolly hols in the med each year. Not owned a springer for a few year's now but think my next set up..is going to be a springer for back up.

You lot make me feel like a tight t**t with your armouries! ?

I know you're right mate, Julia is thinking of starting as well just the indoor range at the moment.

I think I feel like the R10 isn't really mine, I know you've been extremely generous offering the use of your armoury to Owen but I know that's the one Julia will be using as well. I just don't want to be zeroing it and messing around every time it comes to me wanting to shoot it.

That's why my initial thought was another in .77 so I had the use of both, then the bloke said that, so I was unsure, even though Sean had already told me about .77 having just as good stopping power as .22.

I also understand what you're saying about a springer but I've not seen one yet that I've thought "wow I love the look of that", I think that's partly because I think I completely missed that phase and jumped straight in with the R10.

To be honest Shaun, Jimmy has given you some wise words, heed them mate.

This shooting mularky will digest loads and loads of dosh, trust me I have been shooting from the age of 13................................ouch.

As Jimmy said, you have two cracking guns and another PCP will offer you................WHAT??.......................nothing different.

I appear to have too many guns at the moment and it is true but I have a small window of opportunity while a bit of cash is there and once gone I can't replace it very easily so my tinkering with multiple guns is short lived and will sell some and settle on the few I want for different reasons. I am trying to finish up with the guns that will in effect see me through a number of years even if it is only plinking in the garden.

Stick with what you have and really master them, possibly a springer will add some challenge for you but for hunting and target shooting with what you have is spot on mate.

I doubt I will hunt with my TX, it is there as a challenge and helps to make me a better shot, well thats the theory.

My mind is whizzing a bit with future plans but there is no rush for you and you don't want to p1ss your wife off so much that the very mention of guns causes an argument, it is not worth it in my opinion. I am lucky as my wife is happy for me buy stuff but she knows that it won't go on much longer.

Could not have put it better my self Phil

Shaun if Julia is thinking of starting up and Owen wants to go to the range she can use the r10 and Owen the hw100 carbine .

even if im not going just pm me and pop in on the way to the range and pick up the hw100 mate easy as that

No good buying her a rifle if she is not going to like shooting

so let her try it first

then if she wants to keep doing it buy her some thing you both can use if you know my drift lol ;)
