nottzhunter08 898
Had another trip up north, I took LASS, REW took BUD, and our mate martin took his rifle, on our journey up there it was nothing but mist and fog, a shortcut on the satnav took us up a lane were traffic had also built up as a van had hit the dike, a load of lads managed to push him out after 15 mins, luckily it didn't take too much time, When we arrived the majority of fog had cleared, we got cracking on as we started late, we left our mate with gun to have a wander about do as he please whilst me and rew headed off for a few hours to get some runs with dog, It started off slow, a couple rabbits here and there as we started on the high part of the ground, the lower we got the more plentyful the rabbits were, Lass was on form, working at her best, she had a real go in her last night, dint give many much of a chance, also some great retreived over the walls dikes etc, just a real pleasure to work alongside a lurcher that just knows the crack and has just clicked with me from day one, Rew was always close by I could hear the distant squeels, see a few great catches and retreives from BUD, what a dog he's shaping up to be, We ended the night on 72, LASS catching a round 40 and young BUD catching 32, We drove the lanes of our permission finding a few for our mate to shoot with gun, he dint have much look early in the night but he done well on the lanes shooting 4, he seems to now be getting a good shot with it and we could do with a good shot for a few hares we have on our perms, we finished driving lanes as it was getting light, After an hour in van and a few refreshments, we decided to go for a shot on a hare, we fount one and after a shot we slipped the dogs, this went on to be a great course, up and down the hills over a river and wall a few times, was a great hare and managed to avoid capture, so we headed to ferret a set the farmer has said he's seen a few around, The sets were around sheep fencing and a small dike/stream, rabbits used the fence well but the dogs still managed a few, had one catch lass caught in mid air, we ended on 8 after an hour and called it a day, Was a great trip and had some great sport, not all rabbits are in pic as we ferreted after the pic, plus rew dint get a bag of rabbits out van he put away, Thanks for looking ? 10 Quote Link to post
