Rabbit Activity Everywhere.

Recommended Posts

On one of my permissions an old disused railway track runs through it and nature has claimed it back long ago, thick with trees and bramble a mile long.

Anyway I took my G.S.P. out this morning under the shotty and all he was finding was Hare scent and rabbit galore amongst the bramble. There was rabbit crap everywhere :boogy:

No mixy rabbits either, so fingers crossed, I so, so, hope we are not as hard hit as first thought.

The other permissions are still very quiet for rabbits though.

I`ve noticed the tallest and most individual trees are picking up roosting wood pigeons from 2pm onwards, so another opportunity showing itself for the air rifle I think.

Yes, very slow, that`s why the shotty is employed at the moment, ( any chance will do).

Two three hour outings now with the shot gun,- not a fired cartridge but my area is just begging for a trapping session. :nono:

I`m going to leave them to breed again ( rabbits) and watch their numbers.

I fancy a bit of foraging, hide titivation this morning with my best mate.

There probably there because people cant get to them . a few folk seem to want to kill every rabbit if the farmers or landowners dont mind rabbits on a bit like that where there no doing real damage why no leave them and just harvest a few

Well said I'll leave the rabbits on them farms this year and concentrate on the pheasants and roost shooting.

What shotgun do you use mark is it a 12 bore? I swapped over to a s/s 20 bore a couple of years back it's a great light weight wandering gun and drops game as well as my 12 bore.

im just back from 4 day break [wedding venue] in otterburn [Northumberland] and the whole area is devoid of "any" wildlife .most of the land I walked on with dogs was military training land which was vast ,dogs flushed 3 grouse and sadly that was it over a 3 hour walk .maybe the army shooting has scared everything away? I didn't even find a warren

Not sure if you Guys have tried this yet But I have a persmission from a local church/graveyard (i'm sure others must have this problem)which is full of all sorts of wildlife. Rabbits love the flowers put down on graves and this is not liked by people buying them and putting them on loved ones graves, also the trees are loaded with squrel ruining the bark so I get some lovely shooting and people get longer lasting flowers and tree's not getting exposed so much.
