kato 0
can any one here tell me any thing about the LARGE MUNSTERLANDER as a hunting dog? Has any one hunted over a Large Munsterlander? Appreciate any knowledge, WiskeyJaR Hunt Point Retriever. Long leggity beasty will quarter the ground in front of you very effectively then come to point. When the quarry takes flight it will retrieve downed animals and birds. Strong dog both in physique and will. Needs to respect you and will only do so by kind training. This is not a thick headed dog but a very intelligent one who will have moments in which you will be tested. If you want a dog that will track wounded game (deer is a quarry for this) Will go into water with no problem. (keeping them out of water is a problem) And will show boundless enthusiasm then this is a breed for you. Downside Very much a people dog, If you want to keep one outside in a kennel then look for another breed because this breed NEEDS to be with people. If you move out of sight they will come looking for you. They get distressed if they are away from their designated person for too long a time. The amount of mud and water a Munsterlander can carry into the home is beyond belief. I don't get on this forum that often but if you look on the Large Munsterlander Sites on the net there are a lot of working dogs about. In fact many of the show dogs are workers. I think they are wonderful dogs but they are not easy. In fact a Munsterlander is hard work. Quote Link to post
