Tiercel17 0
I'm wanting to have a go at mole trapping and see The Flat Pack Co. sell two versions the Regular galvanised style Duffus type traps and an all Stainless version, are the Stainless ones worth the extra cost would you say? smithie 2,443
Me personally I would just buy a couple of the flat pack cheaper trap's and for 2 reasons. First reason is you might not take to it and secondly the stainless cost more so you will be more out of pocket if it's stolen.. The normal flatpack is at least equal to all other tunnel traps or so it seems going by what's I read in here.. I could be wrong, again... 1 Quote Link to post
hutch6 550
I won't use any other tunnel traps other than theirs as I'm in Yorkshire and so are they. Only need a few basic tweaks to get them working as I like them now , must've changed the machine settings recently but got another van full coming in the next few days so I'll see if it was just a one off batch. Tiercel17 0
Thanks Smithie, Hutch6 are they the full stainless ones you use or the regular ones they sell? Quote Link to post
trappa 518
I only use flatpack for duffus. Regular ones not stainless and they are spot on Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,101
I bought more stainless this year, they are a very good trap needing very little tweaking, the soil around me is generally acidic, the first lot I bought was 6 or 7 yr ago and they are still like new really, there ordinary ones are very good mind but rust very quickly in our soils, if you are starting out I would say get one of there box standard traps, you won't go far wrong, you will have to tweak them mind, good luck, Quote Link to post

Dirksdonuts 79
I have been using the Stainless ones for about 3 years and think they are better than the galvanised ones. We have about 350 of them at present and around 100 galvanised ones and each time i pick a galvanised one out of the bag i return it looking for a stainless one. Quote Link to post

Exactly that i find myself putting the galvanised to one side , not really sure why , mind you they do seam to work just slightly better and clean up easier . Oh and yes mate buy from flatpack , dont waste your money else where. Quote Link to post
hutch6 550
Thanks Smithie, Hutch6 are they the full stainless ones you use or the regular ones they sell? Sorry for the delayed response. Just the regular ones. A bit of tinkering out of the box and they are good to go. If you get some let me know and I can talk you through the tinkering if you want to make them a bit more efficient. Thanks again Bury them in 'soil', for three months, then immerse them in a 'bucket full of worms', for a week ?,.....(you wont miss a mole, with them, after that !) lol 1 Quote Link to post
hutch6 550
3 weeks?!? Mine are in for 6 months before I even think about touching them. After that i rub them with a sparrow's wing before washing them in a mixture of saffron, gold flake vodka, dog sh!t and petrol - for extra catchability I tie fishing hook around the barrel and hook a worm on to entice the mole into the trap within seconds of it being put in the ground. I thought everyone knew this stuff? 2 Quote Link to post
Dirksdonuts 79
Get them out of the box and into the ground. There are no moles in that cardboard box. They will catch the same day..... IF you set them in the right place. 1 Quote Link to post
