just wondering would it be alright to feed ferrets the odd fish now and then.just wondering whats your veiws are ? how often etc etc ? or can they just about eat any thing raw. mines are feed on a diet of rabbit,duck, wood pigeon.

I don't really have a lot to do with fish. But I did once offer mine some white, sea fish. Pouting, as I remember. They turned their noses up at that.

 

No harm in trying what ever ye mate has though. Just be sure it's not gone over.

i go pikeing alot and feed any leftover dead bait and small pike to my ferrets about twice a week they seem to be doing well on it

I can't see how a bit of fish should harm the ferrets. Use freashwater fish, but be aware that some fish has the enzyme thiaminas, this enzyme can be lethal for the ferrets, as it decompose thiamin in the ferrets body. It can also paralyze and kill the ferrets.

 

My ferrets hasen't been fed fish before, but i would like to try, and if the ferrets won't eat it, then maybe the cats will.

Don't be worried. I have never heard of a ferret dying because of a fish. I just thought that I would mentcen it. The ferrets won't "die" of one raisin either, eventhough there is a toxic in some raisins. It is said that 7 grapes is enough to kill a dog. And it is true, weird sience. To answer what I else have feed my ferrets with: Mice, Rats, Gerbils, Hamsters, GuineaPigs, Rabbits, Day-Old Chickens.

Hearts, Livers, Schrimps, Grasshoppers, Crickets, Chicken legs, and so on.

What i haven't feed my ferrets with, is wild animals. Only a couple of wild mice. No no, I i'm shortage of everything that you feed your ferrets. Must be because i'm not a hunter. Gotta be friend one soon.

Mine eat trout a lot, which is fresh water, and codling, mackerel and poulting, which are salt water fish, with no worries.

These are feed as part of a mixed diet, say once a week. Makes a change from rabbit or bird.

I would like to try mine with codling just the fishing is a waste of time on the NE coast nowt to do with overfishing,pollution or global warming i,m just no good at it anymore
