ryaldinhio 4,686
One thing I would add, and I am going to add to mine, is a lip/ledge around the opening between levels otherwise all that happens is when the stinkers are playing all the wood shavings from the top get knocked downstairs!I have this on the to do list also, and they are so keen to be out they leap onto me when the doors are opened and bring half the shavings with them. Cant blame em for that micheala! ? Haha. 2 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
I got a wheel off Leeview on here aswell, the stinkers use it loads and I figure it helps keep em fit. Fitted it to back wall on top level, will get a pic tomoz. Get that pic up mate, could do with seeing this. Thanks Quote Link to post
Welsh_red 4,688
How big is your outside court going to be WR I havnt got any designs or proper ideas yet . I've got a decent patio space available to me . Roughly 2.5-3 metres in width with a metre each for height and depth were my General thinking . A little sheltered area bit but mainly a obstacle course of pipes and bits and Bob's . Quote Link to post

Sirblessed 2,511
Only thing I would say with your plans is if you go 3 levels one of them is basically guna be on the floor and you will be on your hands and knees to clean it out properly, it may get a bit tiresome, thats why mine is on legs! You can still make it 3 levels, just sit it on top of something or give it legs to get it off the ground. Just finished painting mine, will make a stand to lift it up. The big one is 6m x 2.5 on wheels 2 Quote Link to post

Wasn't planning on having a huge one outside yet as I'm only planning on having a couple of ferrets . I understand the idea of having a huge one in case of expanding the amount of ferrets but if that arises I was just thinking of making a bigger one later down the line. I'm completely new to ferreting so I'm going to take it slow. Was there a specific reason you though of making it bigger Quote Link to post

Even if you dont get more then a bigger run will just give the two you have more exersize room. Quote Link to post
Welsh_red 4,688
Had a go at the hutch today . I was given a ferret yesterday with a small hutch , purse nets and locator from a friend of a friend so as soon as this is finished it will be put to use . Decided on 2 tiers as i thought it might be better use on a large area below with little shelves and levels . Happy with it so far . Need to put lino down , do ramp and sort a few clips and get a roof on then its pretty much done bar refining it and tarting it up a bit with things inside . 2 Quote Link to post

Was there a specific reason you though of making it biggerI was going to suggest making a walk in run for the ferrets and doing away with the need for a hutch completely. That's what I done a few months ago.as it makes things simpler and easier to clean etc. That's all they need then is a sleeping box. Here's a pic of mine. Here's a pic before the pipe was added. 1 Quote Link to post
Welsh_red 4,688
Very nice , like the pipework. It's something for me to work towards. Nearly done now but I want to protect the floors from Uribe. I got bitumen left over here . Someone said to use that . How good is that for ferrets? Can I use it Quote Link to post
king 11,980
A nice layer of dust extracted wood shavings on the floor. They will use 1 or 2 corners for there business.put a thicker layer of shavings in the corners and say every 2 days just shovel it up and spray the floor with a dettol mixture in a spray bottle and replace. Hutches obviously made of wood soak the piss into them. I've been down the hutch route before buying them making them etc. I will use 1 ive got here for when the jill has kits. But I wouldn't house them in there permanent again. Works out cheaper to buy shavings in bulk. https://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/countrywide-shavings-120-litre Quote Link to post
