I was out yesterday at a place close to home , there are a few rabbits there but they are hard to get at ,

its a grass field and they rabbits live in the roadside among the thick gorse, they like to run across the field and play with their mates who also live on a gorse bank .

I some times set a couple of wires in the middle of this field when its showing signs of traffic,i only set two or three as i would sooner come here once or twice a week during the season than wiping them out in one go,this morning when i arrived at the first snare it was obvious that someone had beaten me to it ,though it was still early and very foggy i could see footprints in the dewy grass , at the snare was the usual catch circle and a few footprints plus an opened rabbit wire, it looked to me like someone had released the catch and walked back to the footpath.

The cecond snare was empty and untouched , the third snare was pulled tight with a little fur in the eye of the wire the site around the wire had been disturbed.

o

n the return journey i found a hatful of bluelegs so it was,nt all bad news .Win some lose someDSCF2913_zps9tdble4k.jpg

Still a lot of small rabbits round my way, they'll pull your wires and leave you nothing. I've found that if anyone finds your wires, they're gone.

i think that the the rabbit was released from the snare and a fox had the other all three wires were left ,no young rabbits down here mate in fact thres very few old fuckers.

That's the beauty of snares Stealthy1,if somebody nicks them you've lost pennies...traps on the other hand costing £10+,that's a big loss

I'll second that mate, losing the odd few wires is a pissoff, but losing traps makes me feel like stomping. :angry2:

All I get is rabbit heads on some land I control, the Badgers just pull on the rabbit until the head comes off, my lurcher bitch thinks it funny when I kick the heads into the field, she fetches them back and drops them at my feet to kick it again, not sure if she's taking the piss or just trying to chear me up.
