forest of dean redneck 11,784
As removing the stat it and replacing it is the hard bit and they are only a couple of quid, you might just as well change it rather than testing it. Edit to add: It's 20+ years since I changed a thermostat so have no idea how much they are now. old style about a tenner.

horsedrawn 38
Easy solution. Drive a LDV convoy van for a week and you'll never complain again. The two air in centre of dash are the air con but in winter you have to put duct tape over them cos they never close properly

neil82 1,087
waste of time doing anything with the `stat if you don`t fix the leak in the heater matrix first, fix the leak, flush out the sealant, fill it with water to test, if its still running cold change the stat, when your sure you`ve fixed it drain it down again and refill with antifreeze/water
stealthy1 3,964
Did the heater work before you put the rad weld in? Because it can clog like a f**ker, or maybe you need to change your heater matrix if it's naffed, because that's where your heat is blown into your cab from.

rob284 1,682
yeh i did have leak in the heater a few week back,,,,water pissing all over the pasenger side foot well,,,,,,i fixed this with k seal,,,,,(rad weld type stuff),,,, proberbly should have mentioned this first rad seal can cause all sorts of issues. I've used it and now my heater doesn't work, I'm not too bothered though as my engine still gets to temp.flush the coolant out and fix the leak properly whilst changing the stat as well. Chid 6,631
Follow your hoses from your header tank (where you tip up your water) one should go to the rad , and the other o the thermostat housing, which is normally held on with 2 or 3 bolts
tillylamp 1,846
normally the thermostat housing is at the end of the top hose off of the radiator to the engine, look for a domed shape case with three-four bolts holding it to the block.....
