Young Kids Air Guns?

Recommended Posts

When my son was his age 40 years ago I bought a Diana break barrel, no idea what model it was but low power and he was able to cock it. Now by today's standard and range of guns available it was not great BUT he had sooooo much pleasure with that little gun, cheap as chips and we used to shoot in the cellar of that house where we built a range, only 30' but pure fun and that to me is how you get a kid started..............................I know, times have changed, oh well that how it worked for us back in the day.

i was the same phil

airguns at junior school and i won't even get into what we use to mess about with when my mates dad was out!!!

but you'd end up in a young offenders for it now:(

but in this nanny state we live in now and between the x mrs and social services id never see the kids agin if one had an accident!!!

This is how it all started for me: Diana model 1 and a Gat air pistol, later graduated to a BSA Cadet. Buying pellets in the local hardware store. Those times are sadly gone for the kids today.

I'd rather the lad was out with me learning about responsibility, respect and wildlife as well as having fun, instead of been stuck in front of a computer or to all day ??

One of my boys (7) has a bsa meteor .177, and the other (8) has a hw57 .22 That they plink with, bsa cocks lovely for them both hw57 i cock and load and only shoot from a bench rest.

But they love shooting my daystate regal more, what ever keeps them interested in the sport,

Its good your getting him involved

I'm going to wait and see how Owen gets on tomorrow Jimmy, see if he enjoys it. If he does I'll be seeking some advice on what you think would fit mate

Start him off with a spring rifle Shaun that way he will learn all about handling a rifle

any one can pick up a pcp and shoot it

but it takes skill to use a spring rifle

and he is young enough to learn and get good at it

so when he gets a pcp he will know how to handle that to

like the lads have say,d hw35,,,hw57,,,and even a smk as some of them now are good not like they used to be like

and as he is only going to use it to plink on with it will lite the fire in his belly

nothing like hitting an empty cola can and smashing a glass bottle to do that lol

and you can get a new full set up for around £200 with scopes
