Auroch21 2
Hi all, I've just bought a Combro and checked the power on the Ultra. Bit concerned as it's only producing an average of 10ft lb with RWS Superfields 8.4 gn (.177). Any ideas on the likely causes of a low power reading? The gauge on the gun read 220 bar. Any troubleshooting tips/advice appreciated. Thanks, David Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
the ultra may be fine! combo's are good but you've got to make sure the lighting is right cos they can give false readings if not! atb si Quote Link to post

Will try it in natural light today and see if the readings change. Thanks, David Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
They work fine in any light but not in direct sunlight .Have you put in the right weight ? Try different pellets JSB Heavies 10.3gr work very well in most guns ,specially the ultra Quote Link to post

steg 609
Probably no use..but just took a photo of the trouble shooting that came with mine. Try it on another chrono first.. Atb steg 3 Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
just tested strings in different rooms with dif lighting and there is a difference between rooms! .4 ftlbd and theres defiantly a different reading in daylight I've had it going alongside a f1 before and they were spot on BUT there is defiantly an imbalance when using indoors! I'm sure vis said something about his crombo being out when the wolf was being sorted! done with regulated wildcat only commented on this post so the lad docent up his power from a dodgy reading and go over the limmit atb si 2 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
They might be all different then only because mine is ok in any artificial light or normal daylight ,but in direct sunlight it shows .5 FT/LBS down and many have reported the same findings . I will take on board on what you have said . Every day is a school day , as the saying goes 1 Quote Link to post
steg 609
Don't forget temperature too lads..fooking motor was well iced up half 4 this morn! Drops my readings a tadge Quote Link to post
Auroch21 2
Thanks for all the replies guys. I've spent the evening testing different pellets, guns and lighting types. Still not sure what the deal is - the lgu is pretty consistently returning 11.4 with the 8.4 Superfields so I'm starting to think it's not the Combro. There was a big jump up in readings when I removed a shroud I'd fitted, although the values were all over the place (40 ish fps spread) making me think the muzzle blast had a bit of an effect. Got to around 10.4 ft lb with bisley magnums. Then stripped the gun, removed the cylinder and the de-pinger I'd previously fitted (just in case) and took it up to a full 232 bar charge. Finally it started giving 11.8ft lbs with the Superfields but after 14 or so shots it was back down to 10.4 Any further fault finding thoughts? Thanks, David Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Have you worked out the power curve and see what is the best fill bar would be 1 Quote Link to post
Auroch21 2
Have you worked out the power curve and see what is the best fill bar would be I've not done it with the chrono yet, but my experience with the gun has shown it's most consistently accurate between 220 and 150 bar - it'll be interesting to see how the figures come out when I test that this evening. Thanks, David Quote Link to post
