bird 9,873
they played well for odd mins, then spain used some good subs, put more pressure on, and we folded up and gave 2 goals . i think the team we got are not bad, but against world class teams like tonight , we will always come unstuck , and it dont matter who the manger is . dark-destroyer-85 636
What I can't understand is for the first goal they conceded why throw so many players forward so late in the game when surely they could have sat back and defended their lead and saw the game out
Bunnyblatter 1,012
What I can't understand is for the first goal they conceded why throw so many players forward so late in the game when surely they could have sat back and defended their lead and saw the game out Because we can't defend for toffee. It's normally the case, get a lead then sit back and try defend it and end up conceding as we simply can't defend. I hope Southgate gets the job as he will know what youth we've got coming through as he's been with the U21's for a while now. Plus, I can't understand why Vardy hasn't started as many as he maybe should have. His pace scares defenders to death. Oh well, upwards and onwards
bracken boy 584
Good game by England , it's why fergie always played for 98 minutes because games change is a blink, lalana is our man he's got the game now at last.
gnasher16 30,095
Well i thought we was excellent for the majority of the game as usual you,ll get the glory hunters and part time patriots giving their own nation a good slagging but who cares they aint important whats important is how we progress as a football side and while Southgate wouldnt be my choice it could be worse we could still have fat chops in charge.....apart from our central defence i thought we had a good balance that Stones/Cahill partnership is all wrong for me but against one of the worlds leading nations we did well. j j m 6,539
if they had of dropped back and defended instead of throwing men forward i think they might of held on to the lead,as once them subs come on it was all spain

Hoddle would be my choice mate ive said even before Capello/Erikson were in charge that Hoddle didnt get a fair crack first time round we binned him for non football reasons and he had a lot to offer in my opinion he views the game the right way and had a good connection with the players......to be honest if Hoddle doesnt come back into management at some point it will be a waste of a good football man who played the game and sees the game the way we are now trying to play he was just ahead of his time..... i think they can be excused for continuing to go forward had it been a tournament game yes we would be livid for not shutting up shop but it was only a friendly after all the form was more important than the result and the form was good so if Southgate is to be in charge thats fine lets get into it.
