philpot 5,062
Most men, particularly shooting men have a dog as their pet but I have been a cat man for about 30+ years. Now I know it is a rare thing for guys to speak about a cat but today is a very sad day for me as my wife and I had to say a very tearful goodbye to a much loved pet cat of 19 years, Sylvie was a special little friend who always made you feel much better when you were ill, made us laugh as she helped unwrap Xmas presents and always kept us company in the house or garden and kept me company in the greenhouse most sunny days. Oh yes I forgot, she used to lay on my keyboard when typing late at night to ensure I didn't leave her out, not easy typing with a cat sharing the keyboard. We learned of her having a tuma on Saturday morning resulting in her being put to sleep tonight, she is the third pet cat we have lost in three years and our last member of the feline group that shared our home. Such a small lady leaving such a huge empty space in our lives and home. Sorry to sound soppy guys but we will miss this little lady so much. just-A-snap 1,269
19 years was an extremely good life. 19 years a member of the family. Only you can know the void that will be there with this loss, but I hope the good memories will help you and your family some. All the best to you and yours. Quote Link to post

philpot 5,062
Thank you all for your kind words. I don't think it will be too long before we have another batch of kittens in the house to start a new set of memories whilst we cherish the past memories and perhaps a gun dog but that I will have to ponder for some time. Jonjon79 13,358
I grew up with cats Phil We had one really big fecker called sooty. I loved that cat, he was such a character - he used to deliberately torment the local dogs. He once came home pecked to f**k, dragging an enormous dead seagull. I was absolutely gutted when he died. That was while I was younger and still living at home. We own dogs now and, I wouldn't be without them. They're not better than sooty, just different Give one a go mate - I don't think you'll regret it. They're a fantastic companion Either way, good luck and atb. 1 Quote Link to post
