Aggressive Dogs

My Saluki dog 5 years old soft as f**k with people but he wont tolerate any dog be it a dog. bitch or pup invading his personal space he will draw blood . When in the van with other dogs they have to be caged for their own protection his size means if he is caged the cage fills the van. He is a dominant dog yet once out on the land he doesnt pay any attention to other working dogs unless they try to take his catches then its a dangerous place to be.

Not my idea of a well educated working dog. . . It would have to be the best dog I had ever owned and I would never breed from that sort of characteristic. . . Its shame when you have a world beater, but its still got traits you would not want in future breeding.

Hes probably a more capable worker than anything you have. He is a line dred desert dog from our own lines he is bred to kill stuff and his line are to put meat on the table daily in COO not weekend sport. If you knew anything about saluki packs you would know what traits the Alpha males and females retain and generations of Alphas come from the same parings. You stick to your chosen dog and leave me to mine. As for breeding well plenty have been refused linings in the uk but not for the reasons you seem to think.People on here have seen how well trained my salukis are and the control I exercise over them , a spirited dog you dont break its spirit or in bred traits you harness them for the intended job/

I can assure you my little bitsa lurcher bitch has filled more freezers in her last 3 years than your big old aggressive Saluki will do in its lifetime..

If in the real world you could have the dog you speak of and he didn't want to kill other dogs and guard his prey like a half starved Falcon,I'm sure you would be very happy.. But in the meantime you can only get a bigger van and put up with undesirable traits in the name of having a good line.

I like to be able to put my dogs and other peoples dogs in the back of my truck and not have to worry about one of them getting ripped to pieces...

Dream on you are a romancer. Youve not got a clue stick to your pets and rabbits. The lads I go out with have no complaints about my dogs

Until it gets hold of one of theirs I should emagine Edited by leethedog

If I see another dog walker coming my way with a dog on a lead, I put mine on a lead or call her to heel. If they are off lead, I let mine greet them and just keep an eye on things, best way to let young dogs learn how to socialise. A lot of people need to chill out with their dogs. Only time ever had any problems, both dogs were on leads and had a ridgeback type (with no clear sign of aggression) lunged and took hold of my old lurcher by the neck but luckily didn't do too much damage.

Current lurcher will turn and run from any unknown dog showing aggression toward her. It's a concern that timid nature could turn to fear and aggression as she matures, but things seem ok so far. It is embarrassing to see my 26" saluki x run away from some old dear's little yappy dog

I've up until recently always just given any aggressive dog a boot in the head if it went for mine and wasn't under control, but that's lead to more trouble than it's worth,so just avoid dog walkers wherever I can.

Easy enough in winter when hardly anyone seems to walk them.

I personally wouldn't put up with that from a terrier or lurcher pal-funny how folk judge others when they obviously don't have their own yards in check. the reason you have kept it this long is money imo-if it wasn't the case then you 'd of rolled it into a hole along time ago?sounds like poor, lazy ,early socialising on your part pal.only time I'd tolerate aggressive behaviour is if one dog enters another's kennel/run-scraping in the back of a motor/ out on the land is a big no no.atb dc
Forgot amore about and trained more hunting animals than youve seen you sound lik a prick lurchers may or may not be your thing dont teach others about things you know f**k all about. As for money I dont puppy peddle or need to make money out of my stock and as for rolling into a hole its probably what yours are fit for I said he doesnt scrap out on the land if you have a dog that surrenders its game to another dog it is a wanker fit for the bullit As long as they are not human aggressive tand they do their job good enough for me

DB you are the most arrogant know all I have ever known and there's no shortage of them on here just because you have a saluki doesn't mean every other lurchers is a mongrel working pet the saluki is a plodder that can't cut it in England so has to be crossed with British breeds just to be worth feeding

You really think I am interested in what you think? As for Salukis have you ever seen a decent one another numpty stick to the fairground rides. As people say, I feed them shovel their shit and work them what the f**k has it to do with you ?

Of course I haven't seen a decent one because there ain't one they are desert shit like everything that comes from the desert absolute rubbish
