Trump

Trump's political career ends today without a doubt.

You're not seeing the mood and feelings of everyday people

Just like many in Brexit

I see the mood (and I voted out) but admit that I'm still shocked that America elected such a vulgar and obnoxious cnut their president. Shocked but definitely not disappointed. Like Brexit this vote shows how completely out of touch and arrogant mainstream politics has become. I hope it proves to be a new dawn in world politics, I'm just dismayed that out of 300 million people it had to be him..., but then I suppose that's exactly the point.

An end to mass migration and the beginning of repatriation will ensure national sovereignty in America which will eventually reverberate here, probably far better relations between Russia and the west

I love the smell of democracy in the morning.

All jokes aside, I know plenty of ordinary lads who are over the moon with this result.......it's strange because it's an American president yet lads from all over Britain feel like it's a victory for

The second best news I've heard this year after Britain's vote to leave the EU. I'm hoping we can look forward to the end of TTIP, America getting involved in less wars, and maybe even a preferential trade deal with the UK.

Buzzing !

Buzzing as in :bad:. Or buzzing as in :toast: ?

TC

I think this may just turn out to be a momentous year, first the UK vote to free itself and now the leader of the free world doing likewise.......I hope it starts the death process of our warped political system and get back to a place where ordinary citizens matter more than the number on their tax form.

I hope it sends a clear sign to the politicians that we are sick of being treated like f***ing animals.

Would have been momentous if you stuck a £5 on Leicester winning the league, Brexit and Trump winning. You'd have 15.1m in the bank..?

Alas some pretty unrealistic ideas about Trump about. He has argued for protectionism and asserted that decades of free-trade policies were responsible for the collapse of the American manufacturing industry. For example, by bringing cheap consumer goods into the country, costing domestic jobs and depressing wages.

He states he wants to renegotiate or scrap, the North American Free Trade Agreement, to get a better deal and all other global trade deals are now at risk, the Trans Pacific Partnership, between 12 countries around the Pacific rim, excluding China, and the agreement being negotiated between the US and Europe, known as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

Trump is likely to bring about a period of anti-globalisation that will see a worldwide wave of protectionist policies causing a generalised international economic downturn and increasing economic migration. The opposite of what he has promised.

So the idea that little old UK will get any sort of a trade deal better than a global player like Europe is pie in the sky. More likely we will be like jackals around the feast trying to pick up scraps from the table as the big boys carve out self-serving deals that protect their own countries.

So get ready for higher prices and more cuts and hope that most of what he said was mere rhetoric that is soon forgotten once in power.

Time will tell if the Republican Party allows Trump to implement protectionist trade policies as they are generally in favour of free trade. If TTIP is scrapped it should mean the EU won't have a better trade deal with America than the UK has with the US.
