I like the the old roll over trick and play dead when shot at but ive seen some that bring papers and slippers ffs.

Does anyone try training there dogs or just wait until their old enough to enter and enter them?

Part and parcel of many a terriers education is to familiarise them,from an early age,with what they may meet in the field,be that other dogs,other people,scents,sounds and surroundings.A tug on the odd warm corpse and a wander around a recently occupied hole.Others just show them an entrance when they believe the mutts ready.
