Guest tawny
heres something i cant realy get my head around why do most carp anglers wear the top of the range, camo outfits, and maybe only get one or two fish a day,if your lucky, and yet most match men wear bright red or blue and can have as many as 50 fish in an hour ? do you think the camo is a case of catching the angler and not the fish???????? AIRGUNNER 1
Tawny i find realtree really helps when your stalking the carp, but if just legering in the middle of the lake then this really no need for it. But when stalking there heads will come right up to surface and are very easily spooked by bright colours or movement. Quote Link to post
fergie 0
also as a ex match fisher man turned carp fisher man whem match fishing your target fish is one that swims the only fish usualy not aloud to be weighd in is a pike and as a carp angler you only after carp and usualy big ones so if a lake had 1000 fish in it the match man would be will/trying to catch any one of say 900 of them but if the other 100 where carp of say between 15lb-40lb a carp angler would be trying to catch the carp in the higher weight bracket say 20lb-40lb so they may only be 20-30 fish in the lake that the carp angler is trying or wants to catch Quote Link to post
sureshot 0
its good for real tree nuts like me lol Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Real tree makes absoltute no difference for catching carp!! There are a few select cases when stalking that it could help, but I doubt it would be better than a pair of dark trousers and top. Think of the angles.... from the angle a carp is looking at you from the water......the background you will be against is often the sky......last time I check the sky wasnt realtree colour If there are overhanging trees etc, then like I said there could be a case for it but IMO no difference to a standard green jacket. And anyway......I think it looks stupid anyway ATB, H&J Quote Link to post

Yes that is the case, I did a piece many moons ago in an Irish angling mag on the very subject, the piece was called "Who's catching Who". I surpose its a human thing, if one guy turned up with all black on the bank I bet the next week you would have three guys with the same gear. I wear the same cammo for my hunting as I do for my fishing. Quote Link to post
Barbus 0
I reckon for the vast amount it's because it's the fashion, But for me when I'm out wandering miles of river stalking fish then it's a bit different. DPM is order of the day for me as I love to blend in with my surroundings and be able to sit and watch wildlife whilst fishing. Would rathern sit in camo than sit there is a shellsuit and reebok classics Quote Link to post
