shepp 2,285
The problem is, pricks like Corbyn and Cleg are asking for the full details of the terms of BREXIT. But who the hell shows all their cards before they even start to play the game?
DIDO.1 22,838
This is just technical...that's the law and that's that....but it's been brought about by remainers...the very people who said brexit was bad because of uncertainty have now added and lengthened the period of uncertainty....

scothunter 12,609
I think you are right wilf. I got that feeling soon after the result came in. The way they were talking and not giving a straight answer made me think these c**ts are looking for an angle to stop this. They have to be sneaky cz its a slap in the face to democracy whatever way you look@ it. if its blocked i think we can forget living in a democratic state. I also hope it will finally be the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak. Hope we dont just roll over and accept it. I would also hope that the ordinary people who voted to remain takes a stance aswell.

beast 1,884
Well that's the law, just because the people and government say one thing doesn't mean that that can happen outside of our established constitutional processes. The whole point in having a parliamentary democracy made up of representatives is to remove the volatility of direct democracy. The referendum is an example of direct democracy. That can still work under the representative system we have so long as we hold them accountable to enact those decisions. If in the future we want referendums to be legally binding then we should have that written into law. I don't really see this as an attempt to subvert the will of the people so much as our parliamentary representatives doing their constitution job of overseeing the government's actions. Is this about whether we should leave the EU as the people want or about monitoring how the government do it. I don't like it but it's part and parcel of our representative system. but the whole ponit is that in recent years, and with accelerated effect under the blair government, parliament nolonger sees itself as a group of people who represent us but rather as a group who are in charge of the country. the difference is subtle yet enormous
tsteve9999 456
When asked if they would vote to invoke article 50 on the daily politics show today both young benn and young kinnock said "yes of course, it's the will of the people" When asked if they would block negotiations if they disagreed with the way the government was conducting them they changed the subject every time. The lying b*****ds will make it impossible to leave if they get any chance at all, or make the proposals so watered down we will still be in the eu in all but name. The only way round it as far as I can see is a general election, lets see which of them will risk their seats for what they believe in.

darbo 4,776
Tony Blair blasts 'elitist' Brexit campaigners saying "it's our destiny" to stay in the EU (THE SNAKE HAS SPOKEN) Tony Blair today called on Remain voters to "mobilise and organise" against Brexit , insisting the UK must keep its options open. The ex-PM told Remain backers "we're the insurgents now" and urged them to persuade Brexit supporters that the country is better off staying in the European Union. He said the will of the people should be respected but insisted Remain voters "have to believe in the people's innate sense, that they're also open to a better argument in the light of the facts as they come to light". He told the BBC’s Today Programme it was vital to study the “real life implications” of the decision to leave the EU, warning it could be a “catastrophe.” And he said the views of the 16 million people who backed remaining in the Union should not be ignored. Issuing his rallying cry, he said Remain voters should mobilise and organise to "prise apart the alliance which gave us Brexit " and insisted that, as the "catastrophic" realities of leaving take hold, staying in must remain an option. Getty Tony BlairHe highlighted the sharp fall in the pound as a "negative prediction about our economic future", and the blocking of a Canada-EU free trade deal by the Walloon regional parliament in Belgium as evidence that Brexit may not take the form many Leave voters had imagined. Brexit-backing politicians are now openly acknowledging that leaving means freeing Britain from its "essential social democratic" model, including a free NHS, he said. In its place they envisage "free market, free trading, light regulation, low tax, low social protection" like in city states Hong Kong and Singapore - something which not all Leave voters would back. Writing in the New European newspaper, Mr Blair said: "The issue is not whether we ignore the will of the people, but whether, as information becomes available, and facts take the place of claims, the 'will' of the people shifts. "Maybe it won't, in which case people like me will have to accept it. Getty Tony Blair"But surely we are entitled to try to persuade, to make the argument, and not to be whipped into line to support a decision we genuinely believe is a catastrophe for the country we love." He said Remain voters must win the argument that staying in the EU should stay on the table, warning that anger and anxiety about immigration, globalisation, stagnant incomes, housing and squeezed public services will only get worse outside the EU. "Right now there is one point and one point only to win: we should keep every option open," Mr Blair wrote. "That this should even be contentious speaks loudly about how much those of us - and after all we were 16 million people - who believe Britain's future lies within the European partnership, have been shoved on to the defensive. "We have to respect that people voted as they did. But we have to believe in the people's innate sense, that they're also open to a better argument in the light of the facts as they come to light. Read MoreBrexit means Breakfast: John McDonnell fumbles words as he warns Tories want to make UK a tax haven"We have to recognise we're the insurgents now. We have to build the capability to mobilise and to organise. "We have to prise apart the alliance which gave us Brexit." He added: "This is a world which changes fast. There is a downside to that. But there is also an upside. Things which look resolved emphatically can be open to a new resolution. "Above all stay firm. We're a sovereign people. We can make up our mind; and we can change our mind. And whether we do, is up to us." Edited November 4, 2016 by darbo
