Blackbriar 8,569
Really surprised that no-one has already picked up on this ! Is the poppy a 'political statement' ? Should we just tell FIFA that our players will wear them, come what may ? Maybe the players themselves should be making more of a stand ? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/shortcuts/2016/nov/01/fifas-poppy-ban-the-latest-remembrance-outrage

DogFox123 1,379
If any players have any balls about them they would walk out wearing a poppy and give a big fcuk you to FIFA....
gnasher16 30,093
Load of ol bollocks if you ask me why sport particularly football has got to constantly be the guiding light for all societies problems and protests is beyond me......no of course its not a political statement but come on who really cares if a footballer has a poppy stitched into his shirt for 90 minutes im all for respecting the sentiments and meaning of it but i do think as a nation we are often guilty of making a big song and dance about these things and using football to make humanitarian issues bigger than they really need to be i think just makes us look like a bunch of fannies to other nations.

Amen to that, let's be honest......if I saw some darkie footballer from the Congo sporting a poppy I'd just be thinking "oh f**k off"
pesky1972 5,237
Here we go again... I'm no fan of FIFA but I can see where they're coming from. Ban everything and you avoid any contentious decision making. Why the fcuk do we need poppies on football shirts anyway?
bracken boy 584
If you want to support then fine support but if you don't then also fine but many a true good persons where the poppy.

walshie 2,804
It's nothing to do with football. Who should be able to tell an individual, or in this case 22 individuals if they can show their respects or not? If they want to wear them they should.
johnny boy68 11,726
They let Ireland commemorate the Easter uprising on there shirts, so why not a poppy?
