DogFox123 1,379
I used to be a big fan of the UFC but Boxing was my first love and it's a better sport IMO. Not in the way it's run but I don't think wrestling on the floor holds a candle to seeing a good boxer in action. I also think it's much harder to get to the top in boxing. The wrestling and bjj can be great if it's used on am attacking way rather than just pinning folk down and stopping any kind of action. But I'm with you boxing always has and always will be a better sport. Reason being I prefer stand up fighting and unlike ufc in boxing when somebody is hurt they have to stand and fight the can't wrestle or roll about the floor etc The flip side to that is if a boxer is hurt he can take a knee..... trappa 518
Ufc has the better fighters, no questions, but Bellator know how to put a good fight on. Was getting dissallusioned a few years ago with the striker v wrestler match ups that joe silva seemed obsessed with when there was much better match ups staring us in the face. Getting disallussioned now with little things like McG basically getting fights like his upcoming one that he doesnt deserve but gets because he pulls in a crowd, and CM Punk getting a shot at upper echelon mma straight away just because hes a name and again pulls in a crowd, when there are hundreds of good lads fighting like foook to get a chance to step up. ANd while im wittering on about the two groups, cant be too long before MVP gets the nod from ufc

gnasher16 30,437
Mma as a sport has seen massive changes in barely 20 years.....its still finding its feet and has to pass through this " trend " stage before it can really be judged as a sport, there are mma gyms cropping up all over the place run as prospering businesses where boxing gyms were never about making money as boxing has never been a trend or fashion......because its a new sport the different organisers are fighting over the same market and ultimately have to attract business......its always funny as a sportsman the way a guy like Mcgregor reaches a height of popularity and then it suddenly plummets and everyone hates him for doing exactly the same things that made him so popular in the first place......combat sports are no different to any other business it needs good products so like him or hate him that lad is/was a great product so pure ability will come second.

Theres kids down here paying 50/60 quid a month to train in mma it just dont seem right to me it was always the done thing to get rough unruly kids off the streets by getting them into boxing gyms....it just couldnt happen if they had to pay that sort of money but then boxing has a history and tradition that mma hasnt had time to develop yet which is why it will be interesting after the trend dies down and your just left with the sport itself and what it represents. neems 2,406
What's the difference? Same sport just a different organisation,I'd like to see different rule sets in mma, like when they had UFC and Pride, you could watch people fight under both rules,Pride was the better of the 2 imo. I'd like to see rulesets that allowed soccer kicks, knees to downed opponents ,even striking to the back of head and neck like is legal in Muay Thai. That'd make knockdowns a bigger deal and take downs very dangerous, meaning more stand up. Actually favour strikers as opposed to wrestlers and jujitsu based fighters.
