What did u use for the joining piece lee.

No mate industrial steel pipe and coupling threaded the stuff used for high pressure liquids

There handy little things and can get you out of a few scrapes. a good mate of mine off here made mine out of "old trustie" my much loved shovel. i have put some serious graft through this shovel and it has not given an inch

Above 2 piece was made with M20 nut welded to the top of a 4mm walled tube. M20 bolt with the head chopped off welded inside the upper tube. Screw together...weld the T handle on square. Drill straight through the joint a 4mm hole, find a capscrew the right length to lock the whole thing up to stop twisting and dig...no twist.. strong as a Ox. Job done! No frills tool that does the job. I'm no welder before any of the pro's chirp up about weld spatter and the usual sh*t !

You'll most proberbly find with them lee that they'll come loose because there not tapered . I found with the straight ones with a bit of pressure they twist loose and it's a pain in the arse on a dig . Hope they don't but my first ones did .

Don't understand what you mean by tapered do you mean the tread or the union there is a flat surface that keeps the union stable if they f**k up don't mater the job was done for nothing and can be recut and done with large nut and bolt

I'll find a link to the fitting for ya . Did you find last year they ever twisted open on you . Mine did so I had them welded back up because It was doing my head in . Never manage to snap one though ha ha
