i brought a hw 95 the other day and what with the long nights and some of the lads wanting to lighten stocks...

it got me thinking, i don't really go a load on light stocks... the only reason i bought the tx was because it was so dark!

so I've decided to stain the stock... i don't want a full on tactical look i want it too still look like wood but i want it dark!!

so i stripped the varnish off... what a fcuking nightmare,

when its dry tomorrow ill be finishing the rubbing down and stain it

Light stocks mate... Way forward. Did my PS that way and my 97 is currently light, all be it from about numerous coatings of WD40.

Looking forward to seeing this.

Proper graft though taking the varnish off a standard beech stock. Init :)

1,,have you wire wool,d the stock

2,,did you give it a light sanding

3,,did you use nitro morse to remove the laquer

4,, the stock looks a bit ruff still

5,,once the dark stain is applied its even harder to remove than the original laquer

6,,its looking good and as viz would say

WHEN YOU THINK ITS DONE DO IT AGAIN

Be interesting to see when it's done Si.

I actually don't mind dark stocks. Light or dark is ok as long as it's got some nice grain.

You're right about the lacquer though - I've done it once and, it was a bitch to get off.

Good luck with it mate, hope it turns out how you expect

got it sanded/ rubbed down!

not everones cup of tea but I'm chuffed, i didn't want it jet black so the stain was watered down!

i wanted it to be like the tx stock, dark with dark grain runing through!

ill tackle the oiling tomorrow when I'm laid up with a massive hangover
