its hard to believe that theirs that much of a speed differance between them considering their nearly all of the same type running dog.you would be hard pushed to pick a winner by looks alone same can be said for the flat horses.really good clip.

I was surprised by the difference in the quality of the dogs too. I don't think you would get that difference in quality between top class racing greyhounds-obviously on different terrain and shorter distances.

The red dog released first would have been an older/slower dog but still fast enough to get the Antelope moving,otherwise the tribe behind it would have caught it too early. Yet they still had to turn the Antelope with the jeep, no fair play by them lads.

The variations in speed and agility amongst the Salukis is one of the reasons that any "Desert Dogs " that do get sold are not the best and are usually dogs that do not have a place in future breeding plans of the families that own them. The Wealthy Arabs have high rates of failure in their dogs , they buy dozens of dogs every season in search of the holy grail.

Look in the UK in coursing back in the day the same nucleus of lads had the best dogs and the best lines, close knit groups. The Middle East has had that nucleus of families for generations and they protect their lines. Post ban in the UK it is now easier to access the coursing lines for obvious reasons the old school most of the lads have retired or got out of coursing, now dogs change hands for decent money so its a open market back in the day dogs of quality changed hands for big money but it wasnt broadcast the way it is now. As for the Sand dogs its the old adage the grass is always greener, its been said many times more chance of something decent from UK stock after generations of running the Brown hare and UK deer the way forward is best to the best with a influx of chosen blood now and again to refresh the genetic pool. Thats if lads are keen enough to keep it going. Yes there are a few that keep the dogs to fill the pot especially in Kurdistan, Syria Iraq Azabhaijan and Kazakstan. Iran has very few now since the Revolution most being with Travelling stock breeders (Gypsies) but the lines are questionable due to the nomadic life style and intermingling of dogs. one or two old families still maintain stock..

was the dog that held the lead ,have more greyhound in it than the other dogs, or was it just fast type coursing dog if that makes sense lol.
