Jonjon79 13,358
Yep will do! I probably won't get round to it for a week or 2 tho. Did you short stroke yours too then? I did mate My TX is a .22 HC. It was lovely to shoot straight out of the box. To be honest, I only bought the TinBum kit because I got curious after reading what other people had done. I'm glad I did because I really like that quick shot time. The problem is, I got bitten by the bug and started toying with other bits For the last couple of months the only original bits inside mine are the steel tophat and guide. It's currently got a lightweight ally piston with a longer latch rod for the short stroke, a Vmach seal that's been left just a little tight, a delrin slip washer in front of the top hat and a Titan spring. With 3 of Tinbums preload washers, it's running at just over 11ftlb with FAPs and, I'm very pleased with the shot cycle. I'll probably pull it apart again in a couple of months because I just can't help fiddling 1 Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
I took the stock of mine last night just to have a quick look and the spring is thick with grease, is this good? Quote Link to post

It's not necessarily a bad thing. A little extra grease can help to reduce noise and twang. Generally when sorting the innards, this is removed and, a moly grease (something like LT2) is applied sparingly. Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
I know what you mean! I'm really enjoying woring on my gun too. I'm going to have 2 spring set ups - a short stroked one and a standard one to experiment with. Also going to make a delrin piston sleve too. It takes less than 10 mins to strip the HW down so it's going to be fun experimenting! I'll be watching this thread with great intrest cheers! Quote Link to post
gamerooster 1,179
Well I've got the spring out, everything is thick with black grease, it's even oozing out of the trigger block Quote Link to post

davyt63 1,845
You don't really want to use WD 40 near your rifle,as it will fade the bluing.use a de-greaser from a aresol can or in liquid form white spirits,or the like as this will evaporate fast and leave no residue. Lint free cloths are good for wiping and cleaning the parts,or just plain kitchen towel . You need to strip the rifle, just watch the circlip,as this little fecker can go awol. Take all grease of with an old rag,and completely degrease every part. If you have grease in the trigger unit, then you will have to take apart and de-grease, top sear head needs a mirror polish where guide rod makes contact, middle sear needs polishing where in contact with bottom sear, bottom sear needs underside polishing where I contact with first /second stage grub screws, righthand rear sear needs polishing to. on reassembly lightly oil both sides of the facia, plus contact sides of Sears where in contact with facia, and roll pins.lightly regrease contact pionts of Sears with a synthetic white grease. Be careful when polishing Sears,as you still need that crisp edge. Action/cylinder degrease inside, deburr cocking slot and Polish and light grease, compression tube de-grease de-burr polish internally/externally,piston check seal for splits /nicks if so replace same applies to breech seals, check bearings for wear n tear.polish piston but try to keep some of the machine lines as this will hold back grease from migrating forward to the piston and cause dieseling. Drop in kits/new springs I find the spring works well at 27 coils 210mm,be careful I put a V Mach kit in my TX as you will have to keep an eye on the ft/lbs ,as I did put one in and it was 12.1ft/lbs hence why I mention 27 coils, Not knocking V Mach just my own experience. Dampening the the twang, you will need plastic top hat and guide plenty on the market as mentioned above,or check your local gun shop/smith. Take your time no need to rush it,then put it all back together and enjoy the benefits of your labour, and a big cheesy grin to lol. The TX is reall easy to work on. 2 Quote Link to post
