gamerooster 1,179
As title stated, this will be my first attempt at tinkering with any air rifle, to start off with it just want to polish the internals to see if that reduces recoil and twang, and to see if the gun shoots smoother, and then afterwards fit a tuning kit.... my question is what's the best thing to clean the rifle with? As in the actual rag itself, and any substances I need to apply, and secondly I'm tempted with a tinbum kit, any feedback on these? 1 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
Good for you, you won't regret doing it I degreased mine with WD40, then gave all the insides a good wipe over with kitchen roll. I used a nylon cylindrical brush thingy in a drill to give the inside of the main cylinder a good clean and polish. I can recommend Tinbums MaxPro kit. It comes with the short stroke extension, guide, tophat, slip washer, preload washers and, his own Bumslide - some kind of dry moly grease. I really like the faster shot time from a short stroked TX. I found that the delrin parts did reduce recoil minimally. All in all, it's a good kit that does give an improvement and, Nick is a good bloke to deal with. 1 Quote Link to post

Jonjon79 13,358
Soundz a good job there Jonjon79 intresting cheers.Cheers Tom. To be fair though mate, the TX is a piece of piss to work on I've only got to know mine so well because I had it apart so many times while trying to get it how I wanted it. I'm chuffed to bits with it now though. It's the first one I've ever done and, it's been fun to learn on. 2 Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,812
THE PART YOU NEED TO REMEMBER WHEN DOING ANY TUNE OR FULL REFURBISH IS TAKE YOUR TIME FOR FECK SAKE DO NOT RUSH IT Polish the spring ends to both of them this helps reduce recoil iv all ways been a v,mach man my self and most of my springers have had the v,mach kits fitted BUT THERE A HELL OF A LOT MORE WORK TO FIT with a v,mach kit its how many times you have to take the rifle apart to get the power down lol and sitting at what your happy with . As with most kits the power may go up but with a v,mach its way up my last one was sitting at 13 and a half fb Or just go down the v,mach piston seal root as rez did i sent him a v,mach piston seal for his pro sport and apart from the polish that was all he had in her and by all accounts it was as sweet as,, all original apart from the seal . Me if its made of steel it gets polished lol and that means every thing the affects are immediate smooth cocking ,,,no noise all you should here is the click at the end of the cocking cycle faster firing cycle and most of all next to no recoil just remember DO NOT RUSH IT TAKE YOUR TIME atvbmac  2 Quote Link to post
