I don't agree with mutilating people for being a poof but I do think there should be a deterrent to keep it in the shadows where it belongs and to say that society won't tolerate unnatural behaviour.

 

Every right minded person in the world thinks that an organisation like PIE were deviants and yet they were only saying basically the same as the Stonewalls of this world.

 

That's kinda what I thought, I'm lucky mine's out of range and if you think English telly's bad don't move here!

 

I think pardoning those that have been criminalised for being consenting adults is long overdue. For the record I think all kinds of promoted sexual activity shouldn't be forced on society. Telly is the biggest culprit but it's getting more frequent.

 

Age of consent is 16 across the board, if memory serves? If it's not okay for men to lie with 16 year olds, what about girls? With the teen pregnancy rates it's clearly not something that anyone seems to take too seriously.

 

PIE should hang. We're talking about consenting adults. Turing was a war hero, and it's embarassing he was treated that way. There would be an uproar if it happened today. The fact that we're typing to each other shows how influential his work was, in history.

I haven't looked into this new law yet bar the odd snippet I've read. I wonder if those convicted of cottaging in public toilets will be included in the pardon.

They haven't passed a new law. They've repealed an old one and pardoned those convicted under it, as is my understanding.

As you know, in the UK you are not legally an adult until 18......you can't buy a pint under that age or fight in the frontline.......however at 16 you can be buggered by another gay male of any age because the Labour Party lowered the age of homosexual consent.

At 16 you are a child and that's buggering children as far as I can see.

Gay actual means as good you or so my grandson tells me .as iam now 72 years old iam always unsure what word iam allowed to use as iam from the alf garnet ere we use diffrent words as gay didn't mean that back then .

Joe Orton was a good play write that dosnt make him exempt from being a dirty b*****d or does that make his writing less good.

I see what you're getting at but he wasn't doing that. He was in the privacy of his own home, and it came to the attention of the police when they were investigating another crime.

 

If you're at it in public it's an offense and I don't think anyone is arguing against that? Public f***ing is another topic.

Well then he should have been more careful, the law was there to uphold moral standards........and from I can see, as the boundaries of morality have slipped so society has got worse.
