Busted Rod.

Recommended Posts

Right you guys. A tester. Was fishing the other day and broke my tip section at the 3rd eye. It's greys Platinum and I like it. (Liked it). LOL? Although I've ordered a new rod, I would like to repair or replace the piece. Now, I could reduce the rod to 8'6" but before doing that I want to have a go at repair. Sleeve maybe. Any ideas. Jok.

The greys platinum's had a reputation for snapping.

You could try cutting the broken section back slightly , then strip the eyes off the tip and ans slide it through the cut end , keep gradually cutting the longer section back until the tip pulls through all but 1 1/2" once you have that right take it back out and stick some epoxy in the broken end of the long section and then put the tip back through and pull tight , once its dried whip over the joint and re whip the eyes you had to take off use some high build etc over the whippings to finish.

I have repaired rods like that that have been fine after and they dont seem to lose too much of the action , you also only lose a couple of inches of rod and keep the original tip .

Just done exactly that repair. I've ordered a new upgrade anyway but just had to do a fix. It's reduced the rod length obviously but it won't bother me at all. Thanks for the replies guys. Jok.
